Consolidated Utility Services, Inc. Completes 2nd Annual Quality Summit
Kansas City, MO - Consolidated Utility Services, Inc. completed its 2nd annual Quality Summit in Kansas City, MO. The internal event focuses on reinforcing and improving damage prevention practices in the field. Building on the company’s technology and process innovations in electronic auditing and root cause analysis implemented last year, the 2008 Quality Summit leveraged these advancements to raise the bar for accuracy and damage prevention within all the operating areas of Consolidated Utility Services, Inc.
“The benefits from improved quality in the field permeate Consolidated’s financial results, but more importantly they help our customers achieve their service commitments to the millions of consumers and businesses that rely on their utility infrastructure every day,” stated Brian Johnson, Chief Operating Officer for Consolidated Utility Services, Inc.
Held annually in January, Consolidated Utility Services Quality Summit sets aggressive process improvement goals for the upcoming year and reemphasizes the importance of each technician’s efforts in the field to provide a safe environment for excavation. “We see quality as a habit, and our annual Summit serves as a milepost for driving our industry leading quality levels throughout the organization prior to the upcoming dig season,” added Mr. Johnson.
Consolidated improved its overall performance for locator at-fault damages per thousand locates, a key operational and customer service metric, from 0.394 in 2006 to 0.315 in 2007. The company is seeking to extend its lead over the rest of the contract locate industry in this important measure of quality by realizing an additional 15% reduction in its at-fault damage ratio in 2008.
